Controllers for Incubators

XM18 is our standard controller with a long and positive service history as long as:

1. It is in fact our original genuine XM18 fitted, not a cheap eBay imitation/copy
2. The On/Off set point for Heat and Humidity are as sent, spaced out, so the relays are not overworked
3. The mains power is between 220VAC and 240VAC, which in many areas is exceeded due to a concentration of private solar-energy `vendors’ bidding up the daytime line voltage

We have a variety of controllers on offer as below:

XM18 - 2 x PCB
The Original, fitted in 99% of our machines

XM18 - 1 x PCB  
This is an XM18 made by the same suppliers as above, but with one PCB instead of two and a lower price point that reflects this. It is offered as an inexpensive back-up to have on hand.

GREATLANDER GL18
This high-quality `Custom’ controller is for situations where the standard controller fails early, due to supply issues and the energy supplier can’t or won’t rectify the problem (by tapping down the closest transformer or putting you on a clean lower phase).
The GL18 is made for Greatlander by a specialist instrument manufacturer as a custom run, to replace the XM18 but with “TE Connectivity” relays and transformers. Its components are rated to 260VAC.

XM18-D
We fitted some of these combo panels in our machines for a short time many years ago now, before we split the Wet function into separate switches for Pulse and Cool. The combo contains the main double pole switch and two switches one for Light and one for Fan.

XM26
This larger controller is fitted only to some larger machines. It too requires similar conditions to the standard XM18, i.e.:

1. The On/Off set point for Heat and Humidity are spaced out, so the relays are not overworked, and
2. The mains power is between 220VAC and 240VAC, which in many areas is exceeded due to a concentration of private solar-energy `vendors’ bidding up the daytime line voltage.
3. Or run through a Variac.

A WORD ABOUT VARIACS
In certain situations with less than optimal power, a variable voltage regulator called a "Variac" may be a solution. Variacs can output a constant 220VAC while the input can be damaging/variable. We don’t sell Variacs.
